London Electoral Database for Newcastle University

Case study

The Brief

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Newcastle University asked us to build the London Electoral Database, which captures information on voters registered in the 18th and 19th centuries. The database had to be made available online for researchers and the public at the London Electoral History website.

What We Did

The assignment involved getting to grips with a large amount of historical data, stored in older technology. We also had to develop the sort of interactive features demanded by users of online databases. Throughout development, we were able to make suggestions for technical improvements and add-ons that enhanced the value of the database for users.
